Final Fantasy XIII-2 is starting to look like the Final Fantasy game everyone expected from the original XIII. Not that there was anything wrong with it, though. I mean, I loved it. But many complained the about lack of freedom and RPG elements compared to previous titles, as well as a simplified, button mashing battle system rather early in the game.
Square-Enix seems to have heard all of the complaints and are looking to address everyone’s concern with this single, gloriously informative (though somewhat cheesy) video. Check it:
The video stresses that XIII-2 will be retaining all of the defining features of XIII while adding side quests, towns, wandering NPC’s, customization, improved battle strategies and much more.
If you were upset by the lack of these things in XIII that were so prominent in previous games, you may have gotten your wish. If you’re the gamer like me who just wants more of that high-budget, Square-Enix-quality single player experience we’ve all come to known and love, then this game should already be on your Day One Buy list.
Planned release is January 31, 2012.
