Gamescom 2011: X-Men Destiny trailer shows what your mutant can do

Silicon Knights has a steep hill to climb with their new X-Men game. On the one hand, who doesn’t love the X-Men? Not to mention that they developed the Gamecube classic Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem. On the other hand, their last game was Too Human, a game that took over 10 years to develop and ended up being a mess, killing what was planned as a trilogy.

With their new trailer coming out of Gamescom, the game shows some promise. While fans of the comics may be a little turned off by the fact that you don’t play as any of the iconic characters that they know and love, the story promises to be an interesting tale of morality. With their new-found powers, players must choose to either walk the path of righteousness with the X-Men, or fight for mutant supremacy with Magneto’s Brotherhood of Mutants.

The following trailer shows just what kind of powers they’ll be able to use along their journey.

The game releases on September 27th in the North America, and on the 30th in Europe.
