Warner Bros. has just announced Gotham City Impostors, a downloadable first-person shooter that puts players in the role of a DC Universe inspired superheros or villains.
Developed by Monolith Productions (Condemned), the title will have players choose between two factions, creating their own outfits and stocking themselves with custom weapons and gadgets. No game modes have been confirmed, however Impostors is “set in a part of the DC Universe players have never seen before.”
“Gotham City Impostors blows apart expectations for superhero games with an exaggerated take on first person shooters, set in a part of the DC Universe players have never seen before,” said WBIE senior VP of production and development, Samantha Ryan. “Monolith is creating a game that turns Gotham City upside down and we think fans are going to have a blast with this creative twist on multiplayer heroism and anti-heroism as they play up the classic rivalry between Batman and The Joker.”
The game is expected to release sometime this year for PlayStation Network, Xbox Live Arcade, and PC. Let’s hope Monolith can create something interesting with the license and genre and not turn out a disappointment like The Punisher: No Mercy from Zen Studios.
