Insomniac Games partners with EA for new multiplatform IP

9 Comments | posted

Earlier this morning the CEO of Insomniac Games — Ted Price — released a video blog on the developer’s official website to announce a partnership with Electronic Arts. What is the partnership for exactly? Well, according to Price, Insomniac is working on a new IP that they plan to deliver to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

This is great news as it means that gamers will finally be able to move away from Resistance and Ratchet & Clank in order to check out a new world created by a talented bunch of developers. It’s actually a piece of news that we predicted earlier in the month.

Surprisingly, Insomniac will own this new IP, very much a first for the company – where Resistance and R&C are owned by Sony. It’s also important to note that the studio has only signed a publishing deal with EA for this one game.

While some of you may cry foul in regards to this change, it should be noted that Price did mention that the teams behind R&C and Resistance won’t leave PlayStation 3 owners hanging out to dry either.

I can’t wait to see what Price & Co. has in store for all of us in the future. Considering the company’s track record, it’s bound to be something good.
