Killzone 3 is “properly f***ing nuts”

Now that’s a Brit statement if ever I read one. Killzone 3 was leaked to the web last week and now the press has ripped up their NDAs, thrown them in the bin and  let loose with hands-on impressions.

The title quotation comes by the way of our friends at VG247. Patrick Garratt was lucky enough to visit Guerilla Games in Amsterdam and give Killzone 3’s fourth level a whirl. Featuring jetpacks, snow, refined gameplay and improved graphics, the impressions so far have been estactic. We’ll bring you more on the game soon, but we’ll just highlight Garratt’s comments on the PS3 sequel:

“It was brilliant, yeah. I was only allowed to play three small sections. The first was me on foot against jetpacks, the second was me flying in a jetpack against Helghast and the third was the new ‘brutal’ melee system, which was bonkers.

“It’s a very immediate thing. The controls are the same. I just picked it up and started playing it. The particle effects and general level of detail were properly f***ing nuts.”

You’ll hear more tomorrow, but for now you can read our leak story and gaze at Killzone 3’s first screenshots.

  1. I didn’t love Killzone 2, but this game does looks “fucking nuts”!

  2. *Orgasms*

    I’m actually in heaven.

  3. I hope when he says the controls are the same he doesn’t mean its slow, don’t get me wrong I loved KZ2 but the aiming and the bringing up the sights was a bit sluggish in my opinion

  4. Cool, hoping for a better online system. Battlefield BC 2 comes to mind.

  5. wow those jetpacks look awesome
cant wait for the game, untill then ill be sending drones after enemies, and sniping their asses in killzone2 online

i dont mind if the controls are the same but i hope they dont make them too slow like killzone 2 where a pistol weighs as much as a car.

  7. F*cktacular!

  8. The title is an inaccurate quote. Patrick Garratt did not say that about the game; he said it about the particle effects and general level of detail.
    Read your own posts please.

The particle effects in…Killzone 3. The quotation is included in full. The headline is simply the line to reel you in. All my posts are carefully checked before they are published – I’m no rookie in this game. Cheers

  10. i really need to play Killzone 2!
I haven’t even gotten to the middle bit yet:/

They better change the gameplay and make it more fast, the charachter moves slow in KZ2, more like BF BC 2 or COD. If they don’t I will not buy it, and also Guerilla teamed up with NaughtyDog for KZ3.. Which means EPICNESS

  13. jet packs and new melee animation. what is this halo reach?

  14. Controls are the same? NO THANKS!!!

  15. ^ COD noob who sucks at KZ2, “FIX MY SKILL

  16. @Kapella:

Actually, the jetpacks have been in the killzone series well before halo reach. Jetpacks made their first appearance on killzone liberation for the psp.

And you know, development fro this game started when kz2 shipped so the melee and jetpack thing were part of the game before the ones from halo reach were even announced.

But, I don’t know. I want to see the game in action before drawing any conclusions. I played the reach beta and it was fine but it’t not my type of shooter (I have to admit that the melee kills are really empowering though).

All in all, it seems to be an outsanding sequel for one of the best (if no THE best) shooters on ps3.
