Modern Warfare 2 set to be biggest release of all time

All of the negative press in the world isn’t going to prevent Activision and Infinity Ward from cashing in on what is looking to be like the greatest console game release of all time. Set to break records on launch night, Modern Warfare 2 has clinched just over 2.5 million preorders across North America alone. While that’s a far cry from Grand Theft Auto IV’s total 24-hour sales, that’s without figuring in Walmart, Best Buy, and various other electronic store outlets.

According to GameStop’s VP of Merchandising, Tony Bartel, Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare 2 is going to be the greatest entertainment release ever.

“By all indicators, we anticipate Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be the biggest entertainment launch of all time,” said Bartel. “As of today, the number of preorder reservations we’ve taken for the game is the highest for any title we’ve ever sold in our 6,200 store network.”

We at PlayStation University should have a review done for you in timely fashion, however, we’ll only be picking up our copy either for free via Activision or through a used game opportunity. We’ve let our stance on supporting Infinity Ward’s poor decisions on this game be known and won’t be supporting the company with my funds.

  1. This article gives me the same vibe as Microsoft with their “ways”.

  2. Not buying it, might rent it but I’m waiting for Assassin’s Creed 2.

  3. I’m getting AC2 as well ,not sure about MW2 yet if I do I’ll get both of them on PS3 of course. (dont have one though)

P.S. which ps3 should I get the new uncharted 2 250 gb bundle or the 160gb Uncharted 1 bundle. I kinda dont like the new slims cuz of no flash cards for my psp and the lousy on/off and disc eject buttons.
