As expected, the NPD Group has released its monthly sales figures for the gaming industry. To no surprise, BioWare’s highly anticipated title, Mass Effect 2, stole the show in terms of new software and Sony’s exclusive, M.A.G., didn’t do half bad for a new IP either. Of course, when it comes down to hardware, there is no company coming that close to the Nintendo Wii, but Microsoft and Sony continue to do battle for second place in market share in what has been a tight race thus far.

I seriously do not understand how the 360 is so popular here in the USA. Especially considering all the problems it has and the PS3’s cheaper price (yes it is cheaper in the long run to all those xbots out there) and great gaming library. I guess there are just a lot of casual gamers here.

because casual shooter fans believe that halo is the best shooter ever (or CoD, or Left 4 dead, or dead rising, or any game about zombies or shooting in general) is best on the 360… *sigh*

You know what? I believe you’re absolutely right.
The Xbox 360 may have sold more than the PS3, but a lot of people that are buying the Xbox 360 are on their second or third console because their Xbox 360 isn’t reliable. The Playstation 3 is much more reliable than the Xbox 360 in terms of hardware.
