Surprised? Of course not. After Sony announced their $100 price cut, the PlayStation 3 started sliding off store shelves like a fat kid down a very lubricated slip’n’slide. With full momentum pushing forward into the Holiday season, Sony can also look forward to these types of sales increases to continue with high profile releases like Uncharted 2, Ratchet & Clank, and Final Fantasy XIII in Japan. However, all of this wouldn’t be official or evident until Michael Pachter, himself, declared it to be true.
“We estimate sell-through of 390,000 Wii hardware units (down 45% from last year), 350,000 Xbox 360 (up 1% from last year), and 410,000 PS3 consoles (up 76% year-over-year) as the price cuts for all three consoles spurred demand,” predicted Pachter earlier in the day.
How do we feel about it all? Well, we think PlayStation 3 pushed 450,000 consoles in North America last month. Take that Pachter!
