Peace Walker could make its way to PS3

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker will soon make its way to Western PSPs, but there’s also talk of it making the jump to the PlayStation 3.

Kojima Production’s Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is certainly going to be a leading game on the PSP. However, its life may extend beyond the portable and make a home for itself in living rooms by way of the PlayStation Network. A number of websites have described Konami’s interest in bringing the game to the PS3, with GamePro’s Ben PerLee reporting on the publisher’s comments at the game’s boot-camp:

“So after I had done the preview, [Konami] had a Q/A session with us to get our complaints/ideas about the game. Other than the basics, they asked what we thought about if they released it on PSN for the PS3 as well and had online multiplayer.”

Konami representives wrote down the responses, with most journalists reacting positively to the idea. Destructoid writes:

“At the end of the day, what would make Peace Walker’s online worth playing is voice communication, Wi-Fi and the ability to use the PlayStation 3 controller. The Konami PR reps at our demo session asked our thoughts about releasing Peace Walker as a downloadable PSN title. Everyone at the preview session agreed that Peace Walker would work better on the PS3 over the PSP.”

Such answers may influence Kojima’s next game, or indeed prompt a PS3 release of Peace Walker – perhaps in the same manner as an HD redesign like the God of War Collection. Time will tell. Would you be on board a PS3 Peace Walker?

  1. They should have scrapped Rising and put Peace Walker on the PS3 and slapped Metal Gear Solid 5 on the front cover.

I wasn’t planning on purchasing it right away so this is good news as I’ll have more reason to wait and see if it makes an eventual PS3 release. Shouldn’t they have waited to announce this though? Seems like more people will be reluctant to make the plunge and get it for PSP now.

  3. I’ll get both either way, it deserves to be bought twice.

  4. I hope it does go to PS3. That way I can stealth around with One-Shot.

  5. hell freakin yea that would be awesome if they release peace walker on PSN with online multiplayer & i think they should it’ll probably sell more on PSN than the PSP anyways

Sooo would the Peacewalker on the ps3 be a port? Besides I would by another MGS title anyday!

I managed to play this game and compared to previous installments in the series, it was awful. Snake Eater was the best Big Boss/Naked Snake-era hands down.

Why is it so hard to do something in the same vein? Just copy elements, even if it feels like a ripoff. Another game heavily influenced by Snake Eater, would be awesome and kind of redeem the series for me.

The story was pretty nonsensical. Makes me fear what Rising will be like. The biggest strike already being that Raiden is the main character.

  8. although i would indeed get the PS3 version over the PSP….i dont want them to do that….this is a PSP exclusive and should stay that way; as if the PSP didnt need some good system sellers more than ever!

but of course PSP-wise i probably wont go online at all because there is no one i know of in my area that both has a PSP and likes MGS -_- (damn oklahoman hicks). Furthermore, i cant ad-hoc party as my PS3 is also using wifi……

^now this would indeed be nice for PW

  11. If this happens PS3 would over take 360 in worldwide sales. I Personally would love to have MGSPW incorporated in MGS4 as a DLC that would be sweet… maybe tightening up lose thread from MGS4.
