Don’t underestimate the power of social networking. Facebook and Twitter – two of the biggest internet brands bring with them scores of hungry users. Sony has been able to target them more efficiently than any other entertainment brand.
That’s according to web search expert Greenlight. Its report found that Sony’s PlayStation was the most followed brand on Facebook and Twitter, with over 1.4 million fans total.
Greenlight’s Entertainment Retail report also found that PlayStation was pretty active in April – making a total of 634 posts/tweets.
Interestingly 72% of all online entertainment searches were related to gaming in the UK – with ‘Nintendo DS Games’ being the most searched term at 1.5 million hits.
So although you might think Nintendo and Microsoft have a bigger online presence, Sony’s hitting them where it matters – the incredibly active social networks.
