Quantic Dream, the developers of Heavy Rain, announced their next upcoming PS3 exclusive, Beyond: Two Souls. This story heavy experience puts gamers in the shoes of Jodie Holmes, portrayed in both likeness and voice by the actress Ellen Paige.
Not much is revealed other than the main character and the basic premise of the story, death and what lies beyond. Quantic Dream did treat us to a cinematic trailer to give us a peek into what might be in store for gamers, though. The scene starts out in a dimly lit police building with main character Jodi Holmes being questioned by an officer. Though the officer seems to simply be trying to help, Jodie gives off an air of being very uncomfortable.
When the officer discovers a scar on the back of her head and inquires to its origin, his mug of coffee is flung across the room to shatter on a wall. He then leaves the room to be greeted by a S.W.A.T. team looking for Jodie. As they surround the room she is in, the trailer cuts to a mix of cinematic (and possibly gameplay) scenes from the game, showcasing Jodie on the run from the authorities.
The scenes also show Jodie as being very capable of taking care of herself, both physically and mentally, as we see here disarming S.W.A.T. members, jumping train cars, and blocking bullets with a kind of psychic force-field.
The game definitely a dark adventure for the main character and is heavily story based, which is par for the course with Quantic Dreams. We will be on the look out for any more information regarding Beyond: Two Souls in the future.
