A new report claims Fumito Ueda has left Sony developer Team ICO.
The lead man behind Ico, Shadow of the Colossus and forthcoming PS3 exclusive The Last Guardian is instead working on the game in a freelance state, according to Eurogamer.
Once development of the game is complete, Ueda will go on to work on personal projects.
The Last Guardian’s release was pushed into 2012 back in April, and it’s said that Ueda’s departure is one reason behind its lengthy development.
At the time the director said the postponement emerged in order “to provide more challenging and better quality of content to users and to fulfil First Party Studio’s obligations”.
