S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 development to continue, says GSC

Some good news has emerged from GSC Game World.

In recent weeks reports have claimed the Ukranian developer may close its doors for good, resulting in the cancellation of first-person shooter, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2.

Fortunately, though, GSC revealed its team will continue development of the highly anticipated game in the near future.

“The Stalker team is extremely happy! Why? Because we are continuing work on Stalker 2 after the holidays,” reads a post on the game’s official Facebook page.

Unlike its critically acclaimed 2010 predecessor, PC-exclusive S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat, the game is also heading to PS3 and Xbox 360. A 2012 release date was expected, but we’re unsure as to whether that still stands.
