Sony: “GT5 release date coming soon”

This latest comment is starting to feel like something we’ve all heard for the last two to three years, but has ended up being more like a guessing game than anything factual. I’m obviously talking about Gran Turismo 5 and the potential release date for the title. While the window of release has changed more than once, it goes without saying that so has a specific date.

Thankfully at GDC ’10, Sony dove right back into this pond of fire by announcing that Gran Turismo 5 would see the light of day in 2010 at the latest. Unfortunately for gamers, that gives us a window of the next 9 months to anticipate. According to Pemrose Tackle (coolest name ever), SCEE Product Manager over on the EU Blog, Gran Turismo’s release date announcement should be coming soon.

“Completely understand that you guys are looking for a date. Please bear with us, we will be making an announcement on that soon.” This was followed by “the wait won’t be too much longer” and “we are planning to release further in-depth information on GT5 soon.”

I’m not going to get anyone’s hopes up, but I figure this is the game they’re going to release during the Holiday season to boost sales above and beyond that of the record breaking performance last year. It’ll probably be announced around E3 (maybe slightly before), but it’s all speculation for now.

This game better not go down the road like Duke Nukem Forever -.- Seriously all this waiting is turning off people who thought they were going to get this game LAST YEAR.

  8. Everytime they keep pushing it back its just going to effect its popularity. People will still buy it but im fed up of waiting. And summer would be a gd release time as they are always loads of games being released towards the end of the year.

What’s the problem Mr Moogle? =) Japan gets it first in April – the US and Europe will get it at the best possibly time for sales – holiday.

  12. I even think about GT5 and then before I know it. Bam! I’ll be playing it. : )
