If you’ve been impressed by 3D technology up to this point, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet: Sony have revealed a 3DTV visor that simulates being 15 feet away from a 150-inch screen.
Dubbed the HMZ-T1, the visor latches onto your head the way that virtual reality visors used way back in the day. The difference here seems to be comfort: it only weighs about one pound, and it rests mostly on your forehead and the back of your neck.
Also of note is that it simulates the image by putting two small screens in front of your eyes, which is what allows it to run 3D in what GamesRadar calls “near-flawless.” The HMZ-T1 also has headphones built-in that simulate 5.1 surround sound.
Unfortunately for me, however, it doesn’t seem to be built with people that need to wear regular glasses in mind. I have enough trouble with regular 3D glasses as it is, and this seems to offer even less leeway in that department.
Anyway, GamesRadar has a much more detailed preview of the visor, so I encourage you to check it out.
