Square Enix’s Naoki Yoshida has confirmed the company is interested in bringing Final Fantasy XIV to PlayStation Vita.
During an interview with RPG Site, the game director was asked whether Sony’s upcoming handheld would be considered for the game.
“Yes,” he replied, “currently this is all post-2.0, but because we’re doing a reconstruction of our server system, in those plans, we’re going to make sure that the servers can be accessed by outside devices such as smart phones.”
Yoshida was keen to note that the PlayStation 3 version of the game is the most important at this time, after the PC version was met by poor reception following release in September 2010 – so poor in fact, that Square believes the overall reputation of the franchise has been damaged. It’ll hit PS3 sometime in 2013, now.
