THQ Prepares to Auction Away Individual Properties

News was recently revealed that THQ was having to file for bankruptcy and the situation doesn’t seem to be getting any better. Originally, the company was to be sold wholesale with a very short window of time for other companies to make bids and decisions, but that move has been rejected in favor of a title-by-title auctioning of their franchises and other assets. The auction will take place on January 22nd.

While this definitely spells bad news for THQ and paints a dark shadow on their future, it could also mean new life for some of their franchises that they have not been able to give enough love. Which THQ franchises do you love best and which companies do you hope claim some of them? Word is spreading that interested parties include the likes of Electronic Arts and Activision.

In case you are unaware, here is a quick run down of some of THQ’s popular franchises:

  • Saints Row
  • Darksiders
  • Homefront
  • Red Faction
  • Warhammer/Dawn of War
  • Titan Quest
  • Supreme Commander
  • Company of Heroes
  • Metro 2033/Last Light
  • South Park: The Stick of Truth (upcoming RPG developed by Obsidian)

What do you think of the news? For me personally, I love Saint’s Row and Darksiders and South Park is one of my most anticipated games ever, so I dearly hope they find good homes. Let us know in the comments below!
