Tomb Raider Behind-the-Scenes Development of Multiplayer Mode

It’s no secret by now that the new reboot of Tomb Raider is going to have a multiplayer mode. There’s also no hiding the inevitable comparisons to Sony’s flagship franchise Uncharted (which was clearly inspired by the original Tomb Raider games to begin with.) So, it should also come as no shock that this multiplaye mode, frankly, looks A LOT like Uncharted.

If you read my piece about how each franchise has its own merits and shouldn’t necessarily be compared together, that was before I saw the footage and details about this new multiplayer mode. Gameplay looks almost identical unfortunately, but I have not played it yet, so it’s still hard to say. Check out the video below for full details and insight into the development of the mode (from Eidos Montreal, Crystal Dynamics are putting all their effort into single player.) This also goes right back to the discussion we had on our latest podcast – do some games really need multiplayer?

The game comes out on March 5th. Are you going to be picking it up? Let us know in the comments below!
