Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood is just around the corner and Ubisoft is already looking ahead to Assassin’s Creed 3. If you’re a PlayStation Plus subscriber, you’ve already been enjoying the multiplayer aspect of Brotherhood and are probably ready for your fix of single-player assassinations. However, if you’re eager to know where this story is heading, Ubisoft is saying World War II is a definite and realistic possibility.
According to Vincent Pontbriand, one of the producers behind Brotherhood, World War II is a realistic setting that could be featured within the world of Assassin’s Creed. One of the things Pontbriand points out is that the creative team prefers to set the franchise around a time period of great significance and World War II definitely fits that bill.
“We have a couple of options [for AC3]. So far we’ve tried to take eras that had very important things happen in them that are known worldwide. So WW2 for example – we could have an Assassin’s there. It would work.
“So you can draw a list of major events in history during the last 5,000 years and those could be our choices!”
Thankfully, he isn’t guaranteeing that the WWII setting is going to be the decision made, but only that it is one of many possibilities. No offense to Ubisoft, of course, as I’m a huge fan of the franchise, but World War II has forever been tarnished in the gaming industry with the plethora of shooters released within that time frame. Hopefully their creative team can come up with a better time period than that.
What do you guys think? Would you rather see AC3 take place in WWII or elsewhere?
