It should go without saying, but I’ll say it anyways — Bayonette was one of the worst PlayStation 3 ports to date. In fact, it was so poor, I refused to even acknowledge it as a title and passed it up entirely. I also don’t think I was alone in my decision to just overlook the title and the director behind Platinum Games’ upcoming title, Vanquish, may be taking notice of gamers who chose to do the same.
Recently, Hideaki Nakata gave a lot of insight into what gamers can expect and what he expects from Vanquish on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation through via a blog on the official site. One of the biggest requests that Nakata had for the development team was that he wanted “the game to look unlike anything else out there! I want our battlefields to have the overwhelming feeling of a real battle.”
And while that’s all good for gamers, he knew that that wouldn’t be enough for half of the target audience if both versions didn’t play close enough to one another. Thankfully for PlayStation owners, Nakata’s number one goal was for both to look near identical. He reports that his team designed the title “so that if you play Vanquish on the PS3 or the Xbox 360 you should notice little to no differences. So no matter which console you have, you have nothing to worry about!”
These are obviously big words and we’ll be paying attention to see if they’re backed up upon release. After all, a lot of people are starting to take notice and get excited for Vanquish. We’re just hoping Nakata is correct in what he says and that this isn’t just some PR jumble we’re supposed to swallow.
