Zipper delivering MAG DLC and Double XP all in same week

It’s awesome to see developers show the love by providing free downloadable content that expands the replay value of a game. Zipper Interactive is taking that initiative next week on March 25th and delivering just that — DLC to extend the enjoyment of its online shooter, MAG.

While we’d normally be head-over-heels for an opportunity at free DLC like Burnout Paradise always provided, this DLC being free is something we actually expected. Considering Sony charged $59.99 for an online only title upon release, it only makes sense that they provide a little extra content to help justify that purchase; and so they have.

On March 25th, the “Trooper Gear Pack” will release free of charge alongside a Double XP gaming marathon within the Shadow War. We’ve included details of the DLC below.

Dubbed the “Trooper Gear Pack,” our first DLC addition to the MAG universe will offer a number of cool goodies for veterans and first timers alike. Out of everything in the pack, the most popular will likely be the oft-requested “Flashbang Grenade” that can be used to confuse, disorient or distract your enemies in a single throw.

Of course, there’s more to the Trooper Gear Pack than Flashbangs. We’ll also be including new special edition Light Machine Guns for each PMC. Raven’s APEX 100SE, SVER’s RTK-74 Vla, and Valor’s Mk 46 Mod 1 weapons will provide both a new look for your favorite LMGs and a number of performance adjustments as well.

The last element of the pack will be two additional uniforms – “Trooper Dark” and “Trooper Light.” Available to all three PMCs, these uniforms are specifically designed for urban and interior combat situations and give you two more aesthetic options to diversify your character with.

So, for you MAG gamers out there. Get ready to promote your faction and go to war because with a Double XP opportunity, even the bad players have a chance to level up pretty quickly.

  1. Free DLC is the best! Shame the game cant be free. Have no money to pick it up currently 🙁

  2. awesome, love the addition of flash bangs being added to one of the best team games’s out there.

now all we need is new maps, but eh, baby steps.

  3. Don’t have the game but nice for those who have it.

  4. Free DLC is always good news! I’m really enjoying this game, and I guess is a way of Zipper saying that they won’t abandond the game (not yet anyway). I know that there is a lot of ppl “hating” this game, I think it will last as long as ppl keep on playing. Just like Socom, this is all about the community!

Seriously Free DLC is a Big big plus for BFBC2 and MAG, seriously MW2 15 dollars for 3 new maps and 2 old ones? Seriously every other game is just outclassing them. Uncharted 2 had free DLC, Heavy Rain had free DLC, now MAG and BFBC is getting Free DLC in around the same date.

  6. Don’t let me get started on MW2, let’s jsut say I had it at one point. I’m getting MAG today, for a good price, and free dlc is always good for the consumer.

  7. I’m a bit bummed that I’ll be gone from March 25 through 27 though… Oh well. The DLC is definitely good and I can’t wait for a (free or cheap) map pack.

  8. Free DLC? Activision needs to take note of Zipper and not charge $15 for reused map packs.

  9. @TRF – My thoughts exactly. Where’s the love, Activision?

  10. nice!! and all the free stuff?

@Joe Garcia Activision doesn’t care about consumers they just want your money, hence all of those tony Hawk games in the past.

  12. @moocows11111: we can say the same for EA…

im not saying anything, im just saying
