Zipper Interactive and Sony has just announced the development of SOCOM 4 on the Official US Blog. As many of you know, Zipper Interactive is the development team behind the original installments of the SOCOM franchise (not responsible for Confrontation) and one of the latest PlayStation 3 exclusives, M.A.G.
The plot of the game isn’t given out too clearly, but it does lay out what you can expect to face through your next war torn adventure of SOCOM:
“Though we’ll be revealing the answers to all these questions and plenty more throughout 2010, we don’t want to leave you completely in the dark, so what we will tell you is that a militant revolutionary has unexpectedly seized control in an important South Asian country. As the Ops Com, your mission is to command an elite five-man squad charged with stopping his aggressive agenda before it’s too late. In only six days, you must lead your team through a hostile jungle and urban environments against an army of well-armed rebel insurgents that completely outnumber you.”
Also, several online details have been dropped as well:
“Players will also be able to enjoy a 32-person multiplayer mode that boasts more Special Forces units than ever before!”
Unlike both SOCOM: Confrontation and M.A.G., SOCOM 4 will include a single-player campaign with fourteen missions, resulting in around twelve hours of play. It will take place in South East Asia, featuring destructible environments within jungles, mountains and cities. The game will release this Fall. Oh and this is the Sony exclusive announcement, so expect a trailer on GTTV later today. Check out some killer screens from the game below.
