“PlayStation 3 has Won the Center of the Living Room,” says Hirai

Speaking live tonight at an event in Tokyo, Kaz Hirai and SCE are holding a conference open to roughly 1,000 individuals to unveil some of the exciting new products coming from Sony this year.

During the event, Hirai has revealed that he feels Sony has won its place as the center of the living room by having over 80% of PlayStation 3s connected online. Not only does he feel this is an impressive number, but Hirai also reveals that there are over 69,000,000 PlayStation Network accounts currently active as well.

“PS3 has won its place as the center of the living room,” states Hirai. “Today, more than 80% of PS3 consoles are connected to the internet. We have exceeded over 69 million PSN accounts as of January 25th”

Whether you want to consider this an achievement or not is up to you. However, considering how many devices can create a PSN account, we’re not too sure what to think.
