Is Gran Turismo 5 finally set?

It’s been years since cars enthusiasts started anticipating the next racing simulation from Polyphony Digital entitled – Gran Turismo 5. Throughout those long months, gamers have had to have their hopes dashes and crushes at every possible turn with the release window consistently being pushed back.

However, Sony has stated that the game is set to release this Fall. The only problem is, when in the Fall can you expect it? According to various online retailers, Gran Turismo 5 is being given a release date of September 24th. While this is only based around speculation, it does fall into the proper time frame and it wouldn’t be the first time online retailers have spilled the beans.

We’re hopeful that the date is legitimate and can’t wait to finally get our hands on the racing sim that should define the entire generation for this genre.

  1. Don’t really care when it comes. I just want it to come. Have been excited for this for a long time but not stressing over it like some people are.

  2. Anyone know if this game will ship with an official wheel peripheral like MS did with Forza and PGR? Or will it support USB wheels because Sony isn’t money gouging for cash. I’m excited for this game, but there is no way I’m playing a racing sim with Dualshock.

  3. I didn’t like the GT5 demo, but I’ll still keep my eye on this game regardless.

  4. @TRF I completely agree, the demo was to me a huge disappointment.

  5. @Chatham, of course you can buy any PS3 Racing Wheel. Where have you been for the past 10 years where Sony has done this.

Don’t mind the wait actually, I’m swamped on games so I really need plenty of time to finish all of them, Placing in the Fall is just perfect for me. I would be disappointed if they release this game in 2011 though.

  7. The demo was made from another piece of code not from the real game.

  8. @Ryan & TRF
That “demo” wasn’t the GT5 demo. That “demo” was the GT Academy time trial round 1. The only place you can play the GT5 demo is at car shows or special manufacture(mercedes-benz sls….) versions. Also if you are one of the lucky people to have access to the CES demo. The only thing the GT Academy time trial represents are the driving physics.

  9. I have started playing prologue again, i want to be ready when GT5 comes out. But when is it going to come out, SONY atleast give us a concert release date.

  10. Can’t be the 24th that’s on a Friday.
