Crysis 2’s development teams are “always in competition”

Crysis 2’s producer Nathan Camarillo has stated that the two internal development teams working on the 360 and PlayStation 3 respectively have a long term competition going as to which version of the game looks and plays better. According to Camarillo — while speaking to VG247 — the performance of each console’s version has improved dramatically since this internal war has begun.

“We have two really strong internal teams on the programming side working on 360 and PS3 all the time, and they’re always in competition with each other,” said Camarillo.

“If you think ‘the internet’ are going at each other about this, internally our developers are doing this as well,” Camarillo said. “For a week or two PS3 will look better, then the 360 guys go, ‘No, no, no, we won’t have that,’ and they make the 360 version look and play better. In the end, fine, go at it. It’s going to make a better game all round for everybody, so we have that internal battle.”

In the end for us, this is great news as it sounds as though all gamers should expect a great product to hit retail shelves. While the Crysis development team has been pumping out the info as of late (since the world reveal was just a little bit ago), it seems as though the info is going to tail off until closer to release now.

  1. I just hope Crysis 2 will be more about gameplay than only a graphics engine and some bland gameplay.

360 will not beat the power of the cell processor

  3. I love how they’re spending all of their time trying to make the game look good. Ah, Crytek, you jackasses.

  4. Well. They did say look AND play better.

  5. Its good to hear that they are utilizing each consoles graphical ability, but i would be really pissed if the game turned out to be identical on both the Systems. Then it would be up to sony to show CRYTEK how to optimize PS3 (Uncharted 3)

  6. Don’t believe the hype. Sure this game will look far better than any multiplat out there to date. The PC version will also be the best looking game period, at least until another surpasses it. But the console version will not surpass the top PS3 exclusives graphically, and ESPECIALLY gameplay wise.

The proof is right there in the man’s quote..he said:

“For a week or two PS3 will look better, then the 360 guys go, ‘No, no, no, we won’t have that,’ and they make the 360 version look and play better.”

Now tell me what top 360 exclusive even comes close graphically to any top PS3 exclusive? None. Also, the fact that the 360 is old tech would mean that if it did have such capabilities, other developers would’ve at least tapped into some of it by now.

I just love how certain developers lie or over exagerrate the capabilities of their games this gen just to compete with the PS3 top dogs XD

Just like when BBC2 said they were near UC2 graphically……

    Ok Agreed, makes sense.

What they re trying to do, is HYPE the game so it would get some decent amount of sales. Besides psychologically they are implying that the ps3 version of Crysis 2 is better because they stated the Ps3 first in this sentence:
““For a week or two PS3 will look better, then the 360 guys go, ‘No, no, no, we won’t have that,’ and they make the 360 version look and play better. ”
If they were on 360 lead then it would definably have the 360 stated above first.

What these developers are trying to do is get the SALES for the 360 version because they have a bigger audience but a less then fantastic hardware.

  8. Yes agreed, I know they’re hyping up the game to get sales. That’s a given, but it’s to the point where they are just starting to sound more and more like lies. That’s the problem I have.

1st they say the game looks way better than KZ2, now they’re saying the 360 version has the capability to be better than the PS3 version. With this information they are clearly miss leading the customers. This was basically what I was trying to point out.

Sure by all means get the audience hyped up for your product, but do so honorably. Geesh, they act like the console and PC version are exactly the same.

  9. haha nice, well so long as they compete with eachother….theyll come out with a kickass game for both systems….hopefully none of that bayonetta trash
