It goes without saying that Topware’s foray into an Elder Scrolls-like title was a complete disaster when they released Two Worlds a couple of years ago. Not only was the game redundantly boring, but it was plagued with issues that helped plague the sales figures as well. However, with Two Worlds II, Topware is looking to redeem the franchise from the mishaps of the original and quite frankly, I don’t see that happening.
It’s honestly hard to think back to a franchise that had such a failure of an original installment and that successfully turned it around with a sequel — in fact, I can’t even think of one at the moment. That makes this conquest from Topware quite the impossible achievement, but according to its Community Director, Jake DiGennaro, the team feels they can redeem itself with Two Worlds II.
“We took special care in identifying the things we did well that players enjoyed, as well as the areas we needed to improve that caused the game to suffer, and are excited to bring players back into the totally revamped world of Antaloor.”
“Two Worlds II is really the franchise’s opportunity for redemption, and one we have not taken lightly.”
Furthermore, DiGennario admits that the team made mistakes with the original, but also points out that they’ve never made excuses for the shortcomings that came with it.
As a gamer, do you see Two Worlds II redeeming the franchise? Are you even willing to give it a chance?
Nope.
Nothing will redeem the series from the suckitude of the first game, but TW2 looks decent.
