Some may remember the announcement of a zombie game from Techland in 2007 called Dead Island. I am not one of them, but today it has been reintroduced with a new trailer which certainly should peak any zombie fans interest.
The main characters are set on a tropical island with the zombie hoard after them. They are tourists who were on vacation when the zombie breakout occurred. While the game has a few fire arms the combat is mostly centered on the use of melee weapons such as knives, machetes, bats, broomsticks, pipes, and I am sure a good variety of other makeshift weapons.
The title is defined as a “first-person zombie-slasher/action-RPG.” by the developers. Dead Island has a RPG system in it where there is a leveling system and a skill tree which will increase stats; unlock new abilities, and animations. While the game is a story driven single player game, it is built for four player co-op play. The players are able to drop in and out seamlessly.
The game is being published by Deep Silver and is scheduled for release in 2011 for Xbox 360, PC and PS3. Unfortunately it does not get more specific than that, but it’s pretty safe to assume Q3 or Q4.

I have to say, that trailer was brilliant. Very clever. Looks like it could work, like the idea, just have to wait and see.
Agree with Loki, the trailer was beautifully done. Never heard of this game, but it’s now definitely on my radar.
