Sony pulls MotorStorm Apocalypse Japanese release

As expected (and probably appropriate) Sony has pulled its scheduled Japanese release for MotorStorm Apocalypse. It’s not exactly a shocker that a racing title surrounded by devastation such as falling buildings and mass chaos has been pulled from release shortly after the destruction caused by the earthquake last week and frankly, it would be in poor taste to release it to the public at such a time to begin with.

Sony is citing “various circumstances” as to why it cannot release the title as planned. The game was originally scheduled to release on March 17th, but has officially been given a new time frame of “TBD.” Sony has also closed down the majority of its repair and information centers in light of the quake as well. While the PlayStation Network remains active in Japan, Sony has stated that it may face downtime from time-to-time also.

Hopefully as things return to normal, so can the gaming industry in Japan as it is definitely a good portion of the country’s economy and will be needed to help push forward both financially and as an entertaining distraction for those who needs it.
