Sony turns a profit due to PlayStation 3

Over the last couple of years, Sony has looked like a complete embarrassment with its yearly losses due to the gaming division, which in result, dragged down the total numbers across the board for the electronic giant. However, Sony has finally started reporting in the black after the opening fiscal quarter for this year (April 1 to June 30).

Finally in the black, Sony has reported that the company has pulled in profits of $295 million dollars in just that short span. This puts the company on pace to break well over the billion dollar mark come the end of the fiscal year in 2011. Sony’s entertainment division saw an increase of 34.2% year-over-year which is a very strong increase on an overall scale.

This trend should continue for the console creator as the year goes on and hopefully it leads to something better for consumers, such as another price cut.
