The original Assassin’s Creed was a game selling powerhouse over time despite its often criticisms of being repetitive in nature. However, with the highly anticipated release of Assassin’s Creed II, Ubisoft looked to put to rest all of those criticisms and did so by delivering a masterpiece title that, quite frankly, put the first to shame in the entertainment experience department. Therefore, it’s not surprise that the sequel to the first Assassin hit has been so successful in its opening week of sales.
According to Ubisoft, Assassin’s Creed II has sold over 1.6 million units worldwide in its opening week. That’s a crazy number of sales when you compare it to other large titles released this Holiday season.
The game’s first week sales represent 32 per cent more than Ubisoft’s début entrance in the series. Although sequels generally sell better, Assassin’s Creed was the fastest selling new intellectual property in the US.
Not only does this give Ezio another step up in comparison to Altair, but it’s definitely not going to be a pretty Thanksgiving when these two start discussing sales at the yearly Animus Thanksgiving meal!
We’d like to congratulate Ubisoft on its successful launch and we look forward to the 3rd installment into the franchise.
Cool.
Good job for Ubisoft.
Though I personally didn’t like the 1st Assassin’s Creed it was too repetitive for my taste.
I’ll still give AC2 a chance.
AC2 is worthy of a rental.
