Naughty Dog’s latest The Last of Us Part 1 update for PS5 features plenty of bug fixes and one particularly cool cosmetic for Ellie. The 1.03 patch also makes many enhancements to guns and melee combat, and improves companion characters so that they can assist Joel more effectively.

There are quite a lot of changes that the 1.03 update makes, so here is a breakdown of the more significant updates:

Companion characters now have better aim when throwing bricks at enemies and can rescue Joel from enemy grapples more consistently

Ellie has a new HBO in-game t-shirt as a cosmetic

The pump shotgun has a higher base fire rate

Melee attacks with a two-handed melee weapon kill stunned enemies outright

If you can knock enemies to their knees using a melee attack, it will now combo into a finisher

Human enemies are staggered more when they are punched

Ellie’s accuracy in the Left Behind Standalone DLC now matches her accuracy in the main game

Meanwhile, Naughty Dog says that Steam Deck verification of The Last of Us Part 1 is not its current priority. The devs for the PC port of the game also admit that it isn’t up to Naughty Dog’s standards
