An upcoming PS5 remaster of a nearly decade-old RPG has received a free demo on PS Store that’s not locked behind PS Plus Premium. Anima: Gate of Memories I&II Remaster will release on November 7, but players can enjoy a slice of the action right now.

For those who missed the original announcement, Anima: Gate of Memories I&II Remaster brings 2016’s Anima: Gate of Memories and its 2018 sequel, subtitled The Nameless Chronicles, to PS5. Frankly, we were a bit surprised by the announcement because the games were largely forgotten.

“Experience part of the story, thrilling combat, and exploration in this demo, as you take the first steps alongside the protagonists,” reads the demo’s PS Store description. Save data will not carry over to the full game, so you’ll have to start over if you end up liking the demo enough to fork out $34.99 for the standard copy.

“Anima is a third-person action RPG that weaves together two fates — one of a legendary monster and a mysterious girl with no memory of her past, the other of an immortal soul cursed to wander the world forever,” according to an official overview.
