Uncharted film may still be alive

The news involving Sony and the idea of bringing Nathan Drake to the big screen is a pretty exciting scenario to think about. Despite the long running history of completely terrible game-to-movie adaptations, it would be foolish to think that Uncharted wouldn’t translate perfectly to the larger medium. Considering the success that Indiana Jones had and the original Tomb Raider, it would be safe to think that Uncharted and Naughty Dog would be a huge success at the box office.

While nothing is currently set in stone, the LA Times is reporting that Sony is in talks with potential directors — specifically David O. Russell — to direct the film. Currently Sony has clarified that the movie hasn’t been given the green light just yet however but that the movie is still in the planning stages.

Sony is shooting for a 2011 release, but in the end that may be a bit too ambitious — even for them.
