SOCOM 4 delayed until 2011

Last night Sony, alongside Zipper Interactive, confirmed to fans that SOCOM 4 is being delayed until 2011 in order to create the best game possible. This, of course, isn’t going to be the first time a first-party title has been delayed in order to be improved upon and chances are, it will not be the last.

As the news broke late last night, many gamers realized that consequences will never be the same after this startling news as SOCOM 4 was the most sought after launch title for PlayStation’s upcoming Move peripheral. The following was posted on the official website:

Some of you may have heard through your favorite media outlets that SOCOM 4 is now a 2011 title, and we are writing this letter to you, our community, to confirm that SOCOM 4 is indeed scheduled for release in 2011.

While we’re certainly aware that you’ve been looking forward to playing SOCOM 4 this year, we don’t want to take any shortcuts. Instead, we want to deliver the best and most immersive SOCOM game we possibly can and we’re going to use our extra time to do just that.

Our we saddened by this news? Not exactly. This Holiday season is shaping up to be filled with a lot of great content, so having $50 pushed back into 2011 is only going to help our wallets. However, we’re sure a lot of die hard fans of the franchise aren’t too happy with the decision.

  1. Good. They better fix all the problems I saw in the game play videos. Socom 4 didn’t even look like a Socom game. It looked like Uncharted with a military skin. They better eliminate that annoying over the shoulder view (or give us the option for classic cam) and cover system. The most annoying thing I saw was the regenerating health. Why are all games using this stupid feature? Is every video game character wolverine? Another annoying thing I noticed was the run button. Why can’t I just put more pressure on the analog stick? Zipper better fix these problems because if they don’t, there will be a lot of angry Socom fans.

  2. Not surprising, but not a huge deal since I wasn’t terribly excited for this game.
