Every year Sony presents developers and publishers with the chance to win PlayStation Awards for the past year of gaming. These awards range from user choice to how many units a product sold. While it only takes 500,000 units shipped in Japan to earn a Gold Award, it takes 1,000,000 to receive the Platinum.
This year, only one title sold enough copies to earn the Platinum digs and that was Final Fantasy XIII. For those wondering, the PlayStation Store Award is given to those titles that are purchased the most throughout the year.
