It was a sweet, sweet week for Sony’s Gran Turismo 5 as it knocked off Activision’s Call of Duty: Black Ops from the top spot of the UK charts. However, that lasting victory didn’t last so long as Black Ops is back atop of the leaderboard and will probably remain there through to the New Year — unless Tron magically unseats it.
Surprisingly, Gran Turismo 5 takes a slight tumble down to the 4th spot and FIFA 11 jumps from the 4th up to the 2nd. Sticking at 3rd with the consistency of a trained killer, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood continues to sell well.
The highest ranking new entry on the chart is Donkey Kong Country Returns for the Nintendo Wii which debuts at the 13th spot. Overall, I’d say that’s pretty disappointing considering the fan following that Donkey Kong should have in the industry. Maybe DK will surprise some folks and throw some banana peals up top to topple some of the competition to climb a bit higher in next week’s rankings.
