TopWare Confirms new Two Worlds coming — Why?

I know we’re only in February of 2011, but we may already have received the most baffling news of the entire year. Despite poor sales of both the original Two Worlds and its sequel, TopWare has confirmed that the company plans to develop and release a third installment. We’re not sure what is being put in the drinking water at the studio, but something isn’t right about this confirmation.

“We are trying to do a better job every time and have brought in a brand new 3D modeling, animation and CG team for the next Two World’s game coming out in 2012,” TopWare managing director James Seaman wrote on Destructoid.

Didn’t they do this prior to releasing Two Worlds II? Or am I thinking of another game? All I know is that if your first two installments are considered mediocre and the second installment is surrounded by allegations that TopWare was trying to bribe critics into raising review scores — I’m going to go out on a limb and predict the third game in the franchise isn’t going to end up much better.

Hopefully this decision doesn’t result in a lot of people losing their jobs in this economy.
