It’s common for EA Sports’ Madden franchise to release early on in August and retailers had the game pegged for an August 13th release date; however, yesterday EA Sports confirmed that the game would be released on August 30th instead. As any fan can attest to, this is quite a late release date for the only NFL title due out this year on consoles.

It’s not clear if this change is due to the NFL lockout or if it has something to do with a lot of key development members leaving the studio for other ventures. Despite all of that, at least we know we’ll be enjoying some sort of NFL product this year and it won’t just be an absent year entirely.
