In a recent interview with AtomicGamer, Diablo III’s lead content designer Kevin Martens shared new insight to the possibility of Blizzard Entertainment porting the highly anticipated Diablo III from PC to consoles. While not a 100% confirmation, Martens says Blizzard is “seriously” looking into it.
“We’re definitely looking into it,” said Martens when talking about a console port of Diablo III. “I would say that the whole system specs thing is one of the cool things about Blizzard. You’re always hearing in interviews with us about the death of the PC gaming. We’re always like, “What death?” I think one part of that secret…you know, quality and polish and all of that as well…but part of that is keeping the system specs low. Everybody had a PC, even if they just use it for nothing but e-mail and web surfing. Almost everyone has one, so we do have a pretty giant install base. That said, gaming systems like Xbox and PS3 and so on… Diablo is one of the more natural hits for a Blizzard title to go on those, so I think that’s why we are looking at it pretty seriously.”
If Diablo III makes its way to the PS3 and Xbox 360, it highly unlikely it will make the 2011 release window and will most likely slip into 2012. Stay tuned for more information.

I dunno, it might not delay the PC version. Remember the PC version of Diablo came out in 1996, the PlayStation version in 1998. I think the differences between the console and PC market could support a staggered release.
