Rayman Origins to get full retail release, plus local multiplayer support

Ubisoft has dished out some delightful new details for Rayman Origins in the latest Game Informer (issue 218). According to a preview summary posted via Neogaf, Rayman Origins began as a side project for the lead designers to take a “little break” from Beyond Good and Evil 2 and as development progressed with the title, Ubisoft decided to upgrade the release from episodic content to a full retail sized launch.

Ubisoft also confirms that while the game will support four player local multiplayer, the game has been specifically built with single-player and multiplayer in mind, allowing players to enjoy a modern day Rayman adventure alone or with a friend. Rayman, Globox and two teensies have been claimed to be the four playable characters in the demo.

Rayman Origins is the first title being developed using the UbiArt Framework and is scheduled to release holiday 2011 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Screenshots here.
