Crysis 2, one of the highly anticipated titles hitting store shelves on March 22, has encountered a considerable problem a bit over a month away from the release. For those of you not aware, an unfinished version of Crysis 2 was leaked, allowing gamers to obtain the game on Torrent sites. Of course, it’s only natural that Crytek has come with their response.
“Crytek has been alerted that an early incomplete, unfinished build of Crysis 2 has appeared on Torrent sites,” read one statement on Crytek’s site. Cryek continued with encouragement: “We encourage fans to support the game and the development team by waiting and purchasing the final, polished game on March 22.”
Crytek never missed an opportunity to reaffirm the fact that the nearly-finished PC version of the game is incomplete, in one final ditch effort to keep gamers from going for the torrent.
“Crysis 2 is still in development and promises to be the ultimate action blockbuster as the series’ signature Nanosuit lets you be the weapon as you defend NYC from an alien invasion. Piracy continues to damage the PC packaged goods market and the PC development community.”
Unfortunately for Crytek, the most the developer can do right now is hope for the best. Hacking, in all aspects of gaming, has spiked over the last year, and it’s without a doubt that many gamers will be downloading the nearly-complete version as the news circulates the web. As for PS3 and 360 gamers, we are still tied to the March 22 (US), and March 25 (EU) release date, when Crysis 2 finally releases.
