inFamous 3 is being given “serious thought”

inFamous 2 hasn’t even hit store shelves yet, and Sucker Punch is already ready to give some serious thought to an inFamous 3 if Sony approaches them about the project. Of course, this shouldn’t come as a shock to anyone as Sony and Sucker Punch have had a great working relationship over the years through the Sly series and now inFamous franchise.

Speaking with Eurogamer, Sucker Punch co-Founder Bruce Oberg, expressed his gratitude and appreciation for what Sony has offered the studio over the years and the freedom they’ve had with development ideas.

“That could be with Sony. We have a great relationship with them. We love the PlayStation platform. I’m not lying when I tell you it’s a really killer technological platform for us to work on.

“The support and marketing, and also their approach to us, to let us make the game we want to make, is really incredible. Our relationship with Sony has been just incredible, all through the Sly series and all through inFamous.”

Despite being a third-party studio, Sucker Punch would love to continue to work with Sony which is awesome for all PlayStation 3 owners. The team doesn’t even let the fact they don’t own the inFamous IP bother them either as Sony gives them more than enough choice when developing the titles. When questioned if Sucker Punch would love the chance to continue the franchise into a 3rd installment, Oberg’s response wasn’t too shocking.

“We would give it serious, serious thought,” Oberg replied.

“We know how lucky we are. We’re really lucky to have such a great relationship with such a top-flight publisher that lets us create original IP. The number of studios creating original IP is few and far between.”

inFamous 2 releases in 2011 alongside a slew of great exclusives. Be sure to prep your wallet this Holiday season for next year, because it’s going to be an expensive one!
