When LittleBigPlanet originally released to the public, a lot of gamers weren’t too sure of how long of a shelf-life the game would actually have. After all, a big property of the title was user-generated content for online play and if there wasn’t enough support, the shelf-life of the game would be extremely limited. However, months after release it felt as though LittleBigPlanet was hitting new level milestones one-by-one; taking each one down with ferocity.
Upon the launch of its successor, LittleBigPlanet 2, Media Molecule and Sony not only continued to have the game supported by users around the world, but they also decided to break several World Records while they were at it. As of Friday though, Sony has revealed that the online amount of user-created levels has exceeded that of 3.5 million in total. That is a pretty astronomical number and while a lot of those levels are Trophy-whore levels and more than likely simple run-through test levels, it’s still a huge feat.
“A big THANK YOU for helping us reach 3.6 million levels online! It’s astonishing to see so many levels made for fun, and even levels created for contests.”
How long do you think it will be until LittleBigPlanet 2 finally hits the 5 million milestone? I’m going to go with May, 2011.
