Sony will be taking the PlayStation Network down for several hours today during a final maintenance update to restore all PSN services.
“Starting soon, the PlayStation Network will be inaccessible for several hours for maintenance,” said SCEE’s Nick Chaplin via the PS Blog. “The server maintenance performed at this time represents a crucial step in the full restoration for PSN, including the PlayStation Store.”
“During this maintenance period, users will be unable to sign in to PSN, though those that are already logged in should be able to remain online.”
After the update, Sony is expected to have everything back online for most regions. With backed up PlayStation Store games releasing over the next couple weeks and the upcoming E3 convention around the corner, PS3 users are going to have their hands full will plenty of new content.
