The anticipation and excitement for these three top franchises have to finally have reached an all-time high. One of the key things you can look to to find out whether that is true or not is just how big the teaser trailer and initial announcements had been for each game. Resistance 3 was teased in front of an audience of industry professionals and streamed live on the internet at E3. It featured nothing but live-action acting and that was enough to get the blood pumping and for people heading to GameStop to pre-order the game as quickly as possible.

MotorStorm Apocalypse was revealed in the same time frame as Resistance 3 and displayed the chaotic racing ahead. It showed that the off-road racing was taking a spin into urban and city environments while buildings exploded around it. Racing fans were quick to point out the resemblances to Split/Second, but in reality, they play nothing alike. The 3D offered in Apocalypse is honestly unrivaled on all fronts. It’s as though 3D and Apocalypse were built together, hand-in-hand. I think a lot of people are going to be pleasantly surprised at how much fun this game truly is.

Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception leaked its teaser trailer just prior to the Spike TV Video Game Awards and confirmed to many gamers what had already been speculated — Drake is heading to the desert. Drake’s Deception is going to weave a storyline unlike any other in the franchise and the key to that is going to revolve around just how much of it include deception itself. It looks as though Naughty Dog has created ridiculously beautiful sand effects (something that hasn’t really been done before) and it feels as though that Drake’s Deception is going to be the masterpiece of this generation. To be honest, it sounds weird saying that considering how successful and how much of a crowning achievement Uncharted 2: Among Thieves was. November can’t get here soon enough.

Where do we go from here? Everything for Sony and the exclusive game front seems to be covered now that we’re getting into the fifth full year of its lifecycle. Outside of preparing for Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, MotorStorm Apocalypse in 3D, and Resistance 3 gamers still have a lot of exclusives to empty their wallets this year. LittleBigPlanet 2 is coming in less than two weeks, Killzone 3 is right around the corner, The Last Guardian is somewhere in the near future, Final Fantasy Versus XIII has to show up eventually, right?

  1. Good read. I’m more interested in inFAMOUS 2 than any of the exclusive franchises you mentioned. 😛

    • I agree completely. I am super excited for Uncharted 3 but I would be lying if I didn’t say inFAMOUS 2 wasn’t my most anticipated.

  2. Yes, FF Vs XIII will show up, eventually, on the XBox 360. But screw it, FF XIII sold well there, it makes sense to port vs to the 360.

  3. I have to agree that Infamous 2 is my most anticipated. I recently played through the first one again and that game just has something going for it that you can’t put a finger on. Despite mediocre graphics and an iffy cover system (both of which are greatly improved upon in the sequel) that game feels like you’re playing as a real superhero. That and Batman: AA are the only games that have ever made me feel like an actual superhero

  4. Why didn’t you use actual gameplay from motorstorm? Makes the site look bad when you do stuff like that imo.

  5. Uncharted is easily my favourite new franchise this generation. However Motorstorm and Resistance never really appealed to me, i’m much more looking forward to LBP2, Infamous 2 and White Knight Chronicles 2.

The only genres they havent covered are a retail fighting game God of war doesn’t count and a retail rts game after that then they’ve got everything covered, ofcourse then again there’s always LBP2 and its multitude of tools.

  8. great article

  9. “This generation, Sony has released only three franchises to a trio of titles and those are the Resistance, MotorStorm, and Uncharted franchises.”

uh… are you sure? I mean LBP, Infamous are also great IPs with both having sequels to it coming soon… and both holding great improvements to the original titles, so I don’t see why you don’t count them in.

    • i agree whit you since the ps3 introuduced 2 new genres to the industry whit lbp and heawy rain
but ceep in mind that this is just some guy`s opinion(sory Dean)
and you know how this works on the internet…

    • The key word is “trio”. As in three. 😉
