GameSpot is reporting that Valkyria Chronicles III won’t be localized for the European and North American markets. A Sega representative in Singapore said that the game didn’t sell well enough outside of Japan to justify bringing it overseas, and said that the PSP platform simply isn’t popular enough. Ouch.
It’s hard to argue with the math — if a game sells poorly, there’s no reason to continue pumping out a sequel. A shame, too, because Valkyria Chronicles II was a damn fine game, despite not being on the PS3 like so many people had wanted. The Sega rep said that will discuss the possibility of releasing the game as a downloadable title for the PS Vita with Sony the next time the two companies meet, but I’m not holding my breath.
