Ubisoft‘s popular 2020 open-world action game may return with a major twist. A new report suggests the rerelease of the PS4 and PS5 title Watch Dogs Legion may be imminent.
Insider Gaming claims Ubisoft is preparing to relaunch Watch Dogs Legion as a Director’s Cut. Earlier this year, several leaks already foreshadowed Legion’s rerelease.
The latest report also mentions a possible launch window. The rumored Watch Dogs: Legion Director’s Cut is expected to arrive sometime in the first half of 2027.
What could be included in Watch Dogs: Legion Director’s Cut?
At the moment, no details are available on the expected content for Watch Dogs: Legion Director’s Cut. However, Ubisoft’s team would like to offer captivating bonus features and gameplay missions to please fans who didn’t really like the 2020 game when it first came out.
Legion was a divisive entry that took bold steps franchise fans didn’t appreciate. It dropped the single-protagonist format and introduced the option to recruit and control any character across the vast map of a near-future London.
Not to mention the bugs it had back then, which made it hard for players to enjoy. On Metacritic, the open-world title received a mediocre score of just 66 out of 100.
However, relaunching Legion might still be a good idea for Ubisoft. Recently, the Watch Dogs series saw a spike in fan interest. In July, Watch Dogs 2 went on sale on Steam, leading to a sudden rise in the decade-old title’s player count. This proves the franchise remains relevant to many fans.
Amid reports of a relaunch, Watch Dogs Legion is also currently available for a massive discount on the PlayStation Store. Players can grab it for just $8.99 as part of a limited-time offer.
