A 2023 PS5 remake of a popular PS1 Square Enix action RPG is half price on the PS Store in a limited-time deal. Star Ocean: The Second Story R is the game’s third outing following an enhanced remaster subtitled Second Evolution.

PS5 and PS4 players can grab Star Ocean: The Second Story R (cross-buy) for just $24.99 until August 13. The game usually costs $49.99.

Star Ocean: The Second Story R is a single-player RPG that doesn’t require PS Plus. However, Premium members can cloud stream the title.

“Two worlds, one fateful encounter. In an endless sea of stars, at the edge of the universe, two people who live in different worlds go on a journey to save planet Expel,” the plot reads. “Choose your path and witness an awakened destiny.”

The Second Story R features a 2.5D aesthetic and adds some new elements to the original.

“Experience new battle mechanics, full Japanese and English voice-overs, original and rearranged music, fast-travel and so much more,” a PS Store description reads.
