According to Evan Wells in a recent interview with G4TV, Naughty Dog has no desire to develop an Uncharted game based around Sony’s upcoming motion control-based wand. Despite the increasing popularity of the Nintendo Wii, Wells still feels that if the company were to tackle the motion controlled genre, it would want to create something from the ground up like some of the better releassed Wii titles.

“We really don’t have any interest in using the motion control to do a third-person action game. If we were going to make a motion controller game, we’d want to tackle it from the bottom up and make sure that we were designing the game around the motion control, the way the best Wii games are designed.

I’m not a Wii hater at all, in fact, it’s probably one of my most played consoles in the house. I have a 3-year old son which might account for some of that [laughs], but Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort are some of the best experiences of this generation – honestly. They’re immensely playable and competitive, and just great fun with a group of people in the same room,” he added.

Although the company has no plans for Nathan Drake in your hands, Wells does feel that the PlayStation community will embrace the idea of motion controlled titles like the aforementioned Wii Sports for the Nintendo Wii.

“Yeah, I think the PlayStation audience is totally for it,” he continued. “In fact, I bet you there are lot of closet Wii owners in the PlayStation community. If there is some really good software for that motion controller, I think it can be a big, big success.”

As a Wiiowner myself, I’d have no problem enjoying a Wii-like title with the graphical prowess that the PlayStation 3 is capable of. In fact, I’m sure it would better the experience that much more. However, I’d like to know what you guys think. Are you looking forward to playing motion controlled game in the same style as the Wii or is Sony better off just letting its fans purchase a Nintendo instead?
