A major Fall 2026 action RPG will be exclusively playable early on the PS5, prompting backlash from players on other platforms. When Remedy Entertainment’s Control Resonant releases on September 24, only those who preorder the PS5 Digital Deluxe Edition will get 48-hour early access.
Action RPG Control Resonant playable early on PS5 despite same price tag across platforms
Platform-exclusive bonuses aren’t new, but we can see why Control fans are upset about this. The game’s Deluxe Edition costs the same across all platforms, but only PS5 owners get early access.
This means that, despite being a multiplatform game, Control Resonant Deluxe Edition preorders offer evidently better value on the PS5, and no compensation for the lack of early access on other platforms. For the same price, Xbox Series X|S owners get one less benefit, and it’s not a small bonus we can expect them to overlook.
Needless to say, players aren’t happy, and it doesn’t help that they’re getting passive-aggressive responses from Remedy’s Communications Director, Thomas Puha, on X.
One can argue that it’s Sony that money-hatted the preorder exclusive. However, Remedy being Control Resonant’s publisher means the studio had the option to turn down the deal, so the onus is on both companies.
